I have been doing some experimenting and found a replacement for the pumpkin cheese cake I made this time every year. It's a pumpkin spice bread that has apple butter and maple syrup(real maple syrup) in it. There's a touch of oil, vanilla extract and the addition of golden raisins give it a nice dense "mouth" feel. Everyone that's tried it has begged for more, the real barometer was hubby. He ate half a loaf and can't wait for me to make more. I will be doing more reading and experimenting just to get a handle on this little bump in the road. I love playing with food.

Yesterday was a good day. Slept in, for me any way, had a quiet morning of reading. We went to the commissary early and got there just as they opened, it nice when we do that since there's no one else there and we generally have a much better selection of meat for the dogs. We picked up a couple of things at that Px as well, a back pack for carrying stuff on the bike and a balaclava so I hopefully won't fog the visor or my glasses when I ride on colder mornings.
We went straight to Ellen's after shopping and helped get the one shelter finished, we stopped on saturday after getting roof on since everyone was cold and tired. We secured the roof, and finished the one side she had supplies for. The goats are so happy to have a shelter, a permanent one.
We got home from Ellen's and watched the Cubs game I recorded, finally made contact with my sister so we could meet up at their place and deliver the meat we got for her dog. Mo is so BIG!! She's standing up on strong legs, though she can't stand on her own yet, and is weighing in around 20 pounds. I forgot my camera at home but Peg took one of her with me and hubs. I don't know that I want to plaster my ugly mug on here though.. *grin* We went out to dinner at an Indian restaurant and ate way too much. Palak Paneer is an amazing dish, if you like spinach. I need to learn how to make it. The paneer may be a bit of a challenge, is a type of cheese and I have no idea where to get it.

My husband called me when I was at work today. He NEVER calls me. Ever. Unless there's an emergency. I know he's the weak link where the dogs are concerned. With the breed we have, vigilance is forever required. Letting our guard down means we could lose our dogs and another dog could be injured. Well, he let two out in the driveway while he was using buckets to fill the horse trough(frigid weather has frozen the hose). There's a lady who runs by the house every day, without fail. She always has her Springer with her, Bentley barks like a mad man in the house anytime she goes by. Today he jumped the fence along with Lena whose never jumped anything since we've had her. I think breaking her leg as a very small pup has stopped her from ever trying. Today changed all that. Hub grabbed Bentley but Lena chased the dog about 1/8th of a mile before turning around and going home. Thankfully they will leave it at our paying their vet bills and foregoing reporting it to the police. Tomorrow Hubs will go to Lowes and get fencing material so we can safely confine them to the back yard. I would have said something to him if he hadn't been stressed to the max and on the verge of tears when he called me. He was scared shitless they would report it and we would have to euthanize our dogs. I won't let them outside if I can't keep a very close eye on them. If they even look like they are going to bark they go back in the house... What can I do? He doesn't have a lot of common sense and he REALLY doesn't understand dog behavior, even after 22 years of having them. It's frustrating. He thinks I'm too aggressive, too controlling, I freak out too much. THIS is exactly why I micromanage them. BAH!
